1.     INTRODUCTION


1.1   Background
Filariasis (elephantiasis) or also known as the elephantiasi and chronic infectious disease coused by the filarial worm infection that is transmitted through the bite of various species of mosquitoes.

2.     DEFINITION AND SYMPTOMS

2.1   Definition
Filariasis is an infectious zoonotic disease prevalent in tropical areas throughout the word. The cause is edema, infection by a parastic nematode worm group incorporated in superfamilia filarioidea. Filariasis is usually grouped into three types, based on body parts or tissues that become breeding places: lympatic filariasis, filariasis subcutaneous and serous cavity.
2.2. the symptoms
ü  Repeated fever for 3-5 days
ü  Swollen lymph nodes
ü  Inflammation of the lymph nodes
ü  Enlargement of the legs, arms and breasts

3.      ASPECTS THAT CAN CAUSE OF FILARIASIS

3.1   aspects can cause of filariasis
This disease is caused by three species of filarial worms:
Wuchereria bancrofti,
Brugia malayi,
Brugia timori

ü  The use of anti-filarial drugs
ü  Diethylcarbamazine is killing microfilariae and adult worms in the long-term treatment
ü  Invermectin

ü  Avoiding mosquito bites
ü  Reducing cantact with yetors
ü  Close the vents with musquito netting
ü  Use insect repellent,
ü  Rubbing the skin with anti-musquito drugs
ü  Using long clothing
ü  Do not wear dark
